Brown’s Greens started in 2016 as a small gardening business owned and run by Zach Brown. He installed vegetable gardens, chicken coops, and performed some general landscaping services for his clients. After completing two certificates in Urban Agriculture and Landscape Contracting, and after several years of in-field experience, Zach decided to take Brown’s Greens to the next level. Starting in 2019, Brown’s Greens is now a full fledged Urban Agriculture, Landscaping, and Composting company. You can discover more details about each of these services in the services tab above!
Zach Brown was born in Washington DC and had his early childhood in Dale City, Virginia. His father was in the Air Force and the Brown Family moved to Colorado Springs in 1999 and that’s where Zach went to middle and high school. He was a determined kid, always holding high expectations for himself and filling every minute of his time with extra curricular activities including year around track and cross country, playing in rock bands, going to Russia on missions trips with his church, and summer jobs of all sorts. He grew up in a good, strong, down-to-earth family. His parents are musicians in Colorado Springs and his older brothers and their families live close by as well.
Zach spent his young adult years swinging back and forth between long traveling adventures and odd jobs. He learned and saw a lot as he traveled and worked across the world, but years of transient life began to wear him down and dreams of home and hearth grew in his mind. In 2013, he moved back to his home town, Colorado Springs, and started growing some roots and developing a career. He tried his hand at several different trades through his travels, but his experiences as a farm hand in Iowa sparked a particular interest in agriculture and the green industry. He continued to gain experience in green industry jobs in Colorado Springs, including work in garden centers/greenhouses and as a foreman for a landscaping company. This new found passion and experience eventually lead Zach to conceptualize starting his own business, and after much planning and schooling, materialized into Brown’s Greens.
Zach is married to Brittany Brown who owns and runs a music studio out of their home. She teaches private violin lessons to a great many kids in Colorado Springs and plays classical violin as well as fiddle in several groups around town, including The Chamber Orchestra, Celtic Mountain Band, Smith House, and others. She also helps out a lot with Brown’s Greens, handling much of the office work and garden maintenance as well. Zach and Brittany love their life together and they are proud to call Colorado Springs their home.
